THEATRE IS THE CURE
April 24 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 6:30 pm on Friday, repeating until May 29, 2020
THEATRE IS THE CURE is a virtual theatrical event in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
This collaborative evening of theater brings together 15 playwrights who write monologues on Wednesdays (from prompts received on Tuesdays) which are passed onto 15 directors and 15 actors on Thursdays, and performed live on Fridays at 6:30pm PST… for an online audience of theatre-lovers around the world as well as those who might want to experience live theatre for the first time… for free, though donations are gratefully accepted.
This is an online pay-what-you-can theatre event, and all proceeds will be distributed to participating artists that have been financially impacted by the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. We ask that you send a donation in any amount that you are able.
(Audience members can contribute a “prompt” for writer of a prop, location or SIMPLE, BRIEF line of dialogue by contributing at least $2 and writing their idea in the note field when they check out.)
THEATRE IS THE CURE will be held weekly each Friday evening until artists can once again sit together in a darkened room and enjoy the magic of theatre in-person.
You are encouraged to participate as an Playwright, Actor, Director, or Audience Member! (Details below.)
Interested playwrights, directors, and actors should email firstname.lastname@example.org.
In the Subject line of your email, please indicate whether you are interest in participating as a PLAYWRIGHT, DIRECTOR, or ACTOR. Please also be sure to attach a copy of your resume!
We look forward to making your home our theatre as we attempt to create a theatre pandemic!
