Independent Shakespeare Co. (ISC) announces that Halle Stanford has been unanimously elected to the board of directors. A nine-time Emmy-nominated children’s television producer, Stanford joined The Jim Henson Company in 1993 and holds the position of Executive Vice President, Children’s Entertainment. She has developed and produced many well-known properties for The Jim Henson Company including Sid the Science Kid, Dinosaur Train, the Netflix Originals Word Party and Julie’s Greenroom with Julie Andrews. She co-authored a book series, Jim Henson’s Enchanted Sisters, a collection of fantastical comedy-adventure stories for girls published by Bloomsbury and currently in series development with Cyber Group Studios. She holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in Film and Theater from Wesleyan University and lives in Los Angeles with her sons Max and Theo.
“The first time I saw an Independent Shakespeare Co. performance of Twelfth Night, at the Griffith Park Free Shakespeare Festival, I was floored. I became an instant fan,” comments Stanford. “The company’s innovation, talent, diversity, and commitment to making theater accessible to all audiences, is inspiring to me as an artist, patron, and now a committed board member. I’m thrilled to support the Independent Shakespeare Co., a Los Angeles performing arts treasure!”
Comments Board Chair, Eduardo A. Braniff, “Halle’s passion for families, both in her professional and philanthropic endeavors, is a major asset for ISC. Her experience will help us immeasurably in how we deepen our connection with families across Los Angeles and bring even greater benefit to them through classical theater and free Shakespeare.”
