antaeus new building 6On April 18, 2016, Antaeus Theatre Company announced that after years of planning and fundraising, construction on their new location at 110 E. Broadway in Glendale, CA has finally commenced.

At the tail end of their North Hollywood stay, their production of Hedda Gabler, currently in rehearsal, will finish out the old theater’s final NOHO moments of what has been so far, a glorious journey.

Several weeks ago, Antaeus treated its donors, board members, company members and a few others to a private tour of the new space.

It was appropriate that this sign, which rounded the corner of Broadway, heralded what is sure to be a bright future for the company.

FootLights  was on hand for a peek and took the opportunity to record this exciting moment with a brief photo montage of the pre-demolition interior.

Although there are many interesting design features in the current space, which used to be a computer store, most of what’s here will be replaced by overhead stage manager walk ways, work rooms and an additional theater.

The space will also include the soon to be built, fully cataloged, largest theatrical library in Los Angeles.
