The Theatre @Boston Court at a Crossroads

Boston Court FootlightsAmerican Theatre:  The Theatre @Boston Court is profiled in this month’s print issue.  Like all intimate theaters in Los Angeles, its future will be heavily determined by its response to the changes Actors’ Equity wants to make in 99 seat plan.  Unlike many theaters, however, @Boston Court has been proactive in reaching out to Equity even before the new 99-seat plans were proposed.

…the perception of wealth has made the theatre Exhibit A for what Equity apparently thought was wrong with small L.A. theatre: an immaculate venue with acclaimed world-premiere plays that didn’t pay its actors minimum wage.

The theater has also been successfully partnering with New York City’s Rattlestick Playwrights Theater.
